Through July 6, the Kent Police Department’s Fireworks Enforcement Teams will be out addressing firework violations, and officers have been directed to take enforcement action whenever feasible.

Discharging fireworks in the City of Kent at any time is illegal, and subject to a $250 ticket and the seizure of fireworks.

“Remember, you can help us take enforcement action by calling 911 to report activity and provide as much specific information as possible!”

Discharge of fireworks in a reckless manner, or possession of more than 20 pounds is a gross misdemeanor, punishable by up to 1 year in jail and/or $5000 fine.

“Have a safe and happy 4th!!!”
