Kent Police announced that they’re made an arrest in the car-jacking case that led to the death of 38-year old Jered Sperling.

Police say the suspect has been identified as a 23-year old Kent resident. Investigators are not releasing his name as he has not been formally charged yet.

Kent investigators also identified the other person of interest; he is cooperating with this investigation and it has been determined that he is not a suspect in this case.

“We want to thank every person who called in tips,” said Detective Robinson. “This is a very tragic case that has rocked everyone to the core. Our deepest condolences remain with the family and friends of Jered Sperling.”

As we previously reported, Sperling was killed in relation to a car-jacking at a storage facility in Kent just after 8 p.m. on Monday, April 15. His truck was found Tuesday morning at an apartment complex, and a body that police believe was his was found in the bed of the truck.

“We are absolutely sickened by this senseless tragedy. Our heart goes out to Jered’s wife and family,” Detective Robinson added.
