COMMUNITY ALERT: The City of Kent Severe Weather Shelter is extending activation through the night of Wednesday, Feb. 6, the city announced Tuesday, Feb. 5.
Here are the details:
Tuesday, Feb. 5 – Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019:
- 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Kent Lutheran Church, 336 Second Avenue South, Kent, WA
- 9 p.m.: Check-in and registration
- 7 a.m.: Shelter closes; clients must leave for the day.
Due to the anticipated snow and cold weather, we are activating the Severe Weather Shelter, Tuesday, February 5 through Wednesday, February 6, 2019, 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night. The shelter is operated by Catholic Community Services staff and volunteers from Kent Lutheran Church.
Priority will be given to homeless families with children who are living on the streets or in vehicles, but the shelter will also be available for single women and men. Doors for the Severe Weather Shelter will open at 9 p.m. each evening. Clients must register at the door. As with all shelters, rules for the health and safety of all clients and staff and the broader community will apply.
