The City of Kent announced on Friday, Feb. 1 that it will be activating its Severe Weather Shelter at Kent Lutheran Church, beginning this Sunday, Feb. 3 and continuing through Tuesday, Feb. 5.
“Due to the anticipated snow and cold weather, we are activating the Severe Weather Shelter, Sunday, February 3 through Tuesday, February 5, 2019, 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night,” the city said, and added:
“The shelter is operated by Catholic Community Services staff and volunteers from Kent Lutheran Church.
“Priority will be given to homeless families with children who are living on the streets or in vehicles, but the shelter will also be available for single women and men. Doors for the Severe Weather Shelter will open at 9 p.m. each evening. Clients must register at the door. As with all shelters, rules for the health and safety of all clients and staff and the broader community will apply.
“Please help us share this information with the community, especially with those who could benefit the most from the shelter’s activation. Thank you!”
