A special celebration will take place this Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, starting at 7 a.m., when the Kent Police Department and Target will host a ‘Heroes & Helpers’ event to help children from Kent Youth and Family Services to purchase holiday gifts for their families.

During the in-store shopping event, children are paired with Kent Police Officers and staff who will help in picking out holiday gifts for the kids’ families.

Target’s Heroes & Helpers program fosters strong community relationships by pairing public safety officials with in-need youth to shop for the children’s families during the holidays.

“Participating in this event provides the Kent Police with a great opportunity to share in a wonderful event centered on Kent youth. Just seeing these kids smile means the most,” said Kent Police spokesperson Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner.

As part of Target’s commitment to the community, they have developed extensive public safety partnerships that help support the safety and security of neighborhoods where their guests and team members live and work. Target continues to be a leader by providing safe facilities, assisting law enforcement, and adapting to the unique needs of the community by giving 5 percent of its profits – which today equals more than 3 million dollars per week – to communities.
