Thursday’s (Nov. 8) election results show a major turn in trends in the 47th District State Senator race, as challenger Mona Das has taken the lead over incumbent Joe Fain by 206 votes.

Also, KUOW is reporting that a state Senate committee voted this morning to hire an outside investigator to look into Candace Faber’s rape allegations against Fain.

If the difference between the candidates is less than one half of one percent, and also less than 2,000 votes, a recount is required. The current difference in this race is 0.42%.

Legislative District 47 State Senator:

  • Joe Fain (Prefers Republican Party): 25,018 • 49.79%
  • Mona Das (Prefers Democratic Party): 25,224 • 50.21%

Total Votes (not including write-ins): 50,242

The next round of returns will be released late Friday afternoon.
