Kent Toast ‘N Boast, one of the local Toastmasters International clubs in Kent, is choosing to have a month-long open house during the month of October instead of just one day.

“You can think of it as a Visitors Month!”

Kent Toast ‘N Boast meets every Thursday from 12 – 1 p.m. in the Centennial Building, Room 402, which is across the parking lot from the Kent City Hall and the Kent Police Department.

Each Thursday in October will emphasize a different element of Toastmasters:

  • Oct. 4 is when an “Ice Breaker” speech will be given and explained. This is the very first speech that a Toastmaster member gives.
  • Oct. 11, the speech will be an educational speech to describe what Toastmasters is all about.
  • Oct. 18 there will be a Q & A session along with help in setting goals in the brand new Toastmasters education program, Pathways.
  • Oct. 25 is too close to Halloween to not add a potluck to the mix! Examples of the weekly feature called “Table Topics” will be given to demonstrate how we practice giving a 1-2 minute impromptu speech which doesn’t even have to be true. Short and scary Halloween tales will surely be told.

Anyone is welcome to attend and enjoy a supportive, friendly and humorous group along with a lunch that is provided every week. Come see how people who hate to speak in public learn to love it!
