Tuesday morning (Aug. 21) at 6 a.m., a majority of Western Washington members of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302 (IUOE) voted to strike, causing work stoppages in Kent and around the region.

According to the IUOE website, affected members are instructed to stop work for the duration of the strike, after they’ve completed safety protocols on current job sites.

The strike will delay a number of Kent construction projects in progress – both city-initiated and private projects – as well as projects that have been scheduled but not yet started.

For information about a specific project, contact Public Works at 253-856-5500 or [email protected].
