The Greater Kent Historical Society has a great scholarship opportunity for Kent High School students – the GKHS Scholarship.

This scholarship was created through the generosity of the members of the Greater Kent Historical Society to allow students the opportunity to pursue history related studies at an accredited college or university.

The scholarship will be awarded to a student entering a history related field of study, i.e. history, Social Studies, political science, the humanities, archeology, anthropology, architectural studies, geography, or museum studies.

The scholarship is a one-time payment of $2,000.00 and can be applied to either a 2 or 4 year program.

Criteria and Instructions
Graduating seniors from any of the Kent high schools may apply.

The following items must be included with the application:

  1. Official transcript
  2. Two letters of recommendation
  3. 500 word essay on how you have promoted the discovery, preserved, or disseminated knowledge about the history of Kent.
  4. 500 word essay on how you will promote local history throughout your life.
