Kent Boy Scouts and City offering collection and recycling services

On Saturday, January 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., local Boy Scout troops will collect and recycle Christmas trees in neighborhoods around Kent for donations of any amount. To ensure pick-up, trees must be placed out at the curb by 8 a.m. Saturday morning. The scouts are unable to confirm an exact pick-up time.

If you prefer to deliver your tree yourself, please bring it to Service Club Ballfields, 14608 SE 288th Street. Scouts will be on hand to unload the trees and accept your donation. Trees with tinsel and/or flocking cannot be accepted.

This long-running program keeps trees out of landfills and provides a stockpile of chips for use by Parks staff to mulch new plants in the parks system.

The City’s regularly scheduled curbside Christmas tree pick up will take place the week of January 2 to the 6. Christmas Trees placed at the curb by 7 a.m. will be picked up. Trees must be stripped of all ornamentation. Flocked trees will not be accepted. Cut trees taller than 5 feet into 3 foot sections and bundle with twine.
