Kent Police are investigating.

Early Sunday morning, around 1:30 a.m., Kent Police responded to a report of gunshots heard near the 13100 block of southeast 261st Place on Kent’s East Hill. Upon their arrival, Kent patrol officers found a 20-year-old man who had been shot and was unresponsive. Efforts to revive the man with CPR failed, and the man died of his injuries.

An early investigation of the incident revealed there was a dispute between the victim and another individual who fled the scene before police arrived. No description of the suspect is available at this time. Kent Police believe this was not a random incident, but witnesses believe the motive was a drug deal gone bad.

Investigators are interviewing potential witnesses and following up on all leads.
