This fall there are tons of fun things to do in and around Kent, Washington! Here are a few festive highlights for our 2017 Fall Roundup!

SEPT 29-OCT 29, 2017 Weekends

Wild Waves Fright Fest

Wild Waves Theme & Water Park

Wild Waves Theme & Water Park gets a SPOOKTACULAR makeover and re-opens it’s theme park doors for thrillseekers who can navigate through the park with more than 25 rides in the DARK. PLUS, nightmares come to life in two bone-chilling haunted houses and one haunted trail through the woods.

Little goblins head to Booville, a scare-free zone for children ages 12 and under, featuring spooky crafts and games.

SEPT 30- OCT 31

(Note: Both the Farm Fun Yard and Hayride are located across the street from the pumpkin patch)

Carpinito Brothers U-Pick Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze is the perfect place for a fun and festive fall outing! Pick a pumpkin, get lost in acres of corn- this year’s designs are the Shark and Seahorse mazes. The Farm Fun Yard activities include: Farm Animals, Hay Maze, Corn Pen, Duck Races, Rodeo Ropin’ Cows, Goat Walk and much more. There is also hayrides, a produce stand and a concession stand.

It’s their 25th annual pumpkin patch, corn maze (and hay rides on weekends).

A family oriented, simple, harvest-style pumpkin patch. Pick pumpkins from their pumpkin patch fields and take part in supporting local agriculture.

Dia de los Muertos Celebration, 10:30AM – 11:30AM

Covington library

All ages welcome.

Drop in to enjoy free, fun activities like button making and Loteria as well as live music in celebration of Dia de los Muertos. Chilean musician and story teller Marco Cortes will be performing in English and Spanish.

Join local birding-enthusiast Joe Miles, to learn about owls, their biology, and how to make an owl call! Then, join SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve staff and birding experts for a night-time tour of the Preserve. Practice your owl calls and see if we can entice an owl to respond!

“Stranger Things: Bizarre and Unusual Stories from Kent” will be opening this October. This exhibit will focus on some of the lesser known stories in the city’s historic past and some of the intriguing characters that helped make Kent what it is today. For this exhibit we’re opening our archives and our ears to some of the more obscure narratives of the Valley and invite you to come learn some small town secrets from the past!

A fundraiser to provide a sweet educational experience to help our community understand the complexities of the honeybee problems. Raise funds for the Green River College Honeybee Project; Hear from the local beekeepers; Taste the sweet success of raw honey from Kent, Auburn, Maple Valley, Enumclaw and nearby cities, (they are aiming for 20 different locations); and Danny Najera, PhD will discuss the reality of the problems honeybees face and tell what you can do to help save the honeybees.

Sugar Skulls (Calaveritas De Azúcar) Art Workshop, 3:30PM – 5:00PM

Learn the significance of sugar skulls placed at the Altars to commemorate the “loved departed ones” as part of Dia de Muertos. Get into the Halloween spirit with this colorfully spooky paint and sip event! Susan will be your painting tour guide as you are lead step by step in paint mixing and brush stroke techniques to create your own unique sugar skull! This mysetrious creation has a completely different look when it lays under a blacklight, so it’s like you are painting two paintings in one! All supplies, the lesson, and even light munchies are included in the cost. Stencils will be available upon request, so no artistic experience is needed!
