A suspect is in custody

A 27-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot during a disturbance on a King County Metro bus Tuesday afternoon. Police responded to S. 21st and Talbot Road in Renton just before 4:30 PM yesterday.

Witnesses said the victim and suspect were talking on the bus when the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim at least once. The suspect walked to the front of the bus, pointed the gun at the driver and told him to stop the bus. The driver stopped the bus, and the suspect got off the bus and fled on foot.

The suspect was apprehended by the Renton Police Department a short time later, not far from the shooting. Renton Police K-9 searched the area and found a firearm. The King County Sheriff’s Department has not yet determined if the recovered is the same gun used in this shooting.

The victim was transported to Harborview Hospital in Seattle where he is in critical condition. It is not known if the victim and suspect knew each other. Detectives said there were other passengers on the bus who witnessed the shooting. The suspect will be booked into the King County Jail.
