No remains found

Duvall, Washington

Earlier today King County Sheriff’s detectives searched a wooded area outside of Duvall, Washington looking for remains of a victim of the Green River Killer, Gary Ridgway. Duvall is approximately 28 miles northeast of Kent.

The detectives searched an area near NE 140th St. and 286th Ave. NE in Duvall with cadaver dogs, but no remains were found. According to detectives, this is one of many locations that Ridgway told police about during the murder investigation after Ridgway was arrested.

The information about the location is not new, but a thorough search of the area had not been done before. Police do not know which victim may have been at the wooded area searched today. As time and resources permit, detectives do searches in areas that have previously not been searched.

Ridgway was convicted in 2003 of killing 49 women, but he told police he likely killed more than 71 murders. Many of the women’s bodies have not yet been found. The remains of Tracy Winston, one of the 49 confirmed victims, was found in a park along the Green River in Kent in March of 1986.
