Growing up is difficult enough in today’s times. Kids have to negotiate hormones, societal pressures, drugs, violence and more. These challenges are even more difficult when children don’t have a good support network or trusted adults to reach out to for help. That’s why Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Puget Sound is so important to our community. This nonprofit organization helps to match adult role models with kids who could benefit from a big brother or big sister.
Big Brothers, Big Sisters is currently in need of role models to provide local kids with support and guidance. In particular, the organization is seeking enthusiastic individuals for kids like six-year-old Jalen.

“I want a Big Brother who is fun, exciting and who loves to play sports, just like me.”

Jalen is an outgoing, happy, sports enthusiast who would love to have a Big Brother who shares his penchant for life. All of 6 and full of energy, Jalen is a single child living with his mom in Kent, Washington. His mom says that she wants to find a “positive role model” for Jalen through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound.
Jalen loves sports like basketball, baseball, and football. He also enjoys reading books, swimming, playing board games and solving puzzles. Jalen likes animals and enjoys going to the zoo. Jalen says, “I want a Big Brother who would love to do all these things with me. My Big Brother will be my special friend.”
Jalen’s mom feels that it is important to provide Jalen with a good role model at his tender age. “Jalen is at an impressionable age. It would be great to have a Big Brother for him, who can kind of show him the ropes and be there for him.”
