With warm spring weather comes gypsy moth caterpillars which can wreak havoc on flowers, shrubs, plants and trees. Gypsy moth caterpillars are not only hard on plants, but they can be hard on humans too, causing eye, skin and lung irritations.

For the unlucky among us who are allergic to gypsy moths, they can cause stinging rashes and blisters too. Learn more about the effects of a gypsy moth infestation here.

To combat the problem, the WSDA is putting together a plan to treat the moths in late April and May. That treatment time frame is tentative depending on each micro-climate’s needs and pending approval of the WSDA treatment plan. To get updates on treatment times in your area, sign up here.
