The new Half Lion Public House – located at the Riverbend Golf Complex – held its official grand opening this week:
Kent Mayor Dana Ralph was present to cut the ribbon, along with owners Jason Nelson and David Westby.
“I am really excited about Half Lion coming to Kent,” Mayor Ralph said. “They offer a rotating selection of handcrafted Half Lion brews, ciders and a non-alcoholic root beer. Golfers will be glad to hear they will also be operating a beverage cart service on the course very soon! Lots of good stuff.”
This is Half Lion’s second location; their first is a brewery in Sumner.
Councilmembers Toni Troutner, Bill Boyce, Marli Larimer and Brenda Fincher were also present, as well as Derek Matheson, the chief admin officer for the city, Parks Director Julie Paranscandola and Brian, her Deputy.
Organizers held raffles for Half Lion swag and a putting and chipping contest.
The desserts were from scratch by HLPH staff member Kim.
The menu is American Fare with housemade sauces like beer cheese sauce and salsa.
This is Half Lion’s second location, their first being their taproom in Sumner.
“We are so excited and thankful to be partnering with the Kent community on our second location,” Jason Nelson said. “We love having fun at Half Lion, so opening our first full service bar and restaurant at Riverbend Golf Complex made perfect sense.”

Half Lion offers lunch and dinner, and on Saturday and Sunday mornings, they open early to serve breakfast – a perfect start to the weekend whether you’re golfing at Riverbend or running errands around town.
