The Kent Police Department announced that, starting Monday, Feb. 25, a 30-day warning period for two new school zone enforcement cameras went into effect.

These cameras are located at:

  • Springbrook Elementary (20035 100th Ave. SE)
  • Meadow Ridge Elementary (27710 108th Ave. SE)

Police say that, during this warning period, if speed violations occur, the violator will be notified with a warning letter.

After this 30-day period, citations will be issued for speed violations caught on camera in these school zones.

Fines are:

  • $124 – For drivers going 1 – 9 miles over the 20 mph limit
  • $248 – For drivers going 10 miles per hour or more over the 20 mph limit
