On Tuesday, Jan. 29, longtime District Member and Washington State Democratic Party Committee Member Leslie Hamada formally announced her campaign for Kent School Board.

Kent School District’s Board of Directors have designated geographic areas, but are elected by all voters in the District and represent the District as a whole.

Each board member serves a four-year term, and three of the current five board members terms expire in Nov., 2019.

“I am running for Kent School District Director, Position 3 because I love working with kids and for kids,” Hamada said in a statement. “I truly believe they are this country’s most precious resource and our future. I have the capability to work full-time at this job for our community.”

Hamada says that – if elected to the School Board – she has three main goals:

  1. Strong Financial Oversight
  2. Transparent and Open Communication with: Parents, Teachers, Students, Staff, and “All” Community members and Partners
  3. Equity and Excellence on All Levels
