Demartrae L. Kime was found Guilty of All Charges last week in the shooting that resulted in the 2015 death of baby Malijha Grant in Kent.

Kime shot and killed the 1-year old on April 16, 2015, as opposing gang members attempted to shoot her father.

In December of 2015, the now 27-year old Demartrae L. Kime was charged with murder in the second degree, and two counts of assault in the first degree for his involvement in the murder of baby Malijah, and assault against her parents.

This past week; three and a half years later, a jury deliberated for three days, and found Demartae Kime guilty of all charges.

“This was a team effort would have been fruitless without the support of baby Malijha’s family, the tenacity of our Kent Police Department personnel, and multiple other supporting agencies,” said Detective Rick Gilcrist.

Chief Rafael Padilla is noted as stating:

“Even with the insurmountable barriers that investigators had to overcome during this investigation, they remained determined to ensure the ultimate goal of obtaining justice for baby Malijha and her family; I think it is fair to say, we were able to accomplish that.”

According to investigators, they do not believe that Kime acted alone in this heinous act, and the intent is to continue to work all avenues of this case in order to bring everyone involved in this crime to justice.
