Mayor Dana Ralph and Finance Director Aaron BeMiller are hosting three community meetings to discuss the serious financial challenges the City of Kent is facing over the next several years.
The first of the three meetings will be held on Tuesday, March 27, starting at 7 p.m. at Trinity Church (3807 Reith Road, Kent – map below).
“Mayor Ralph and Mr. BeMiller invite members of the community to attend the informational Q&A sessions to learn more about the budget process, the City’s fiscal challenges, and to share their input on the City’s spending priorities,” the City said.
In addition, the City will be collecting input from the public at http://KentWA.gov/budgetfeedback.
Additional meetings are:
- Saturday, April 21, 10 a.m., Sunrise Elementary (22300 132nd Avenue SE, Kent, WA)
- Thursday, May 3, 7 p.m., Kent Senior Center (600 E. Smith St., Kent, WA)
Mayor Ralph will speak briefly at each meeting, followed by a budget presentation by Finance Director Aaron BeMiller and a question-and-answer session.
The public is invited to attend the meetings to better understand the budget process and the challenges facing the City.
By law, the mayor must propose a balanced budget to the Kent City Council this fall. At that time, there will be additional opportunities, including public hearings, for residents to offer input on the proposed biennial budget.
“We want your input about the financial challenges the City of Kent is facing in the years ahead. You can submit your feedback anonymously, or you may include your contact information if you’d like us to send you updates on future meetings and public hearings. There will be additional opportunities to share input this fall during the formal budget process.”
