Tuesday morning (Feb. 20) at 4:45 a.m., Kent Police responded to the Hottie Shots Espresso stand, located at 21237 84thAve S. (map below), for a report of an assault and attempted rape.

The barista worker, a 30-year old Bonney Lake resident, reported that the assailant came to the coffee stand window on foot and ordered a drink. She said while she was distracted making his drink, he climbed in through the window and held her at knife point. He proceeded to force her out of the stand and to a dark alleyway located on the property just to the northwest of the barista stand. During his attempt to sexually assault her, he was spooked by the vehicle headlights of a customer who pulled into the barista stand drive through. Subsequently, the assailant fled from the area possibly within a dark sedan with black rims that was seen in the area just prior to the incident.

Kent Patrol responded to the area, but was unsuccessful at locating the suspect or vehicle. The barista worker was treated by medics for abrasions on her body which were sustained during the incident. She was said to be shook up, but otherwise in good condition.

The assailant is described as a white male in his 30’s, approximately 5’5” tall with darker hair and light color facial hair. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, and black pants. The ball cap he was wearing is black with a brown bill. He appears to have an earring in his left ear, and possibly a Bluetooth device in his right ear.

“I know that the public can help us identify this guy. It is a priority for us to get him off the streets as soon as possible before he terrorizes someone else,” said Detective Melanie Robinson.
