After hearing explosions and seeing flames in the woods next to their homes Kent residents called 911.

Puget Sound and South King Fire units received the call at 12:22 AM and when they arrived on location they saw flames coming from an abandoned home about 200 feet back in the trees.

Fire crews quickly pulled hose lines off of Puget Sound Fire Engine 73 and made access to the fire from an abandoned driveway covered with brush.

South King Ladder 64 connected to a fire hydrant and was able to attack the fire with their large diameter nozzle from an upper apartment parking lot. The combination of knocking down the fire with the Ladder Truck and then having hand crews extinguishing the smaller fires brought a quick end to the flames.

There was nobody found at the home and the cause is still under investigation by Puget Sound Fire Investigator.

South King County Medic One and Zone Three Fire Explorers also assisted on the call.
