Hardy to focus on inclusive leadership, resources, and a better organizational framework for the Kent School District.
On Wednesday, October 25, 2017, Ross Hardy of Kent was sworn-in by the Kent School District Board at the administration center. Hardy fills the District One seat left vacant when Russ Hanscom resigned from the board this summer. Hanscom is running for Kent City Council.
“I know I can bring the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the current challenges without relenting,” Hardy said. “With a student who will be in KSD for the next 15 years, I am deeply invested for the long-haul.”
Hardy has a master’s degree in business administration, and he works at Ernst and Young. He has three elementary school students in the district, and has been a foster parent since 2010. He is a member of the City of Kent Financial Sustainability Task Force, and is involved with Girl Scouts of Western Washington. His areas of focus in his new role will be inclusive leadership, resources and a better organizational framework for the Kent School District.
School board president Maya Vengadasalam commented on Hardy’s appointment.
“We had several exceptional candidates which made this a difficult decision, but I feel we came to the correct and unanimous decision. We have chosen the candidate with the particular skills and experience that best address our current challenges and our future opportunities and welcome Ross to the role,” Vengadasalam said.
“He’s an advocate for those in need in both his personal and professional life, and he will be a wonderful advocate for the Kent community,” said Kent School District Superintendent Dr. Calvin Watts.
