Kent Lutheran Church Will Offer Shelter Tonight from 9 PM to 7 AM

Because of the cold conditions, the City of Kent is activating the severe weather shelter tonight at Kent Lutheran Church (336 Second Ave. S., Kent, WA 98032) in downtown Kent.

Operated by Catholic Community Services staff and volunteers from Kent Lutheran Church, the shelter will open its doors at 9 PM for check-in and registration. It will remain open until 7 AM tomorrow morning. Dinner will be served after check-in is completed.

9 PM:  Check-in and registration, followed by dinner
7 AM: Shelter closes, guests must vacate

All are welcome but priority is given to homeless families and children living on the streets or in vehicles. Rules for the health and safety of all guests, staff, volunteers and the community apply. Capacity of the shelter is 50 people.

Volunteers are needed to serve dinner and breakfast, make lunches and wash blankets and pillowcases. Also, donations of lunch meat, peanut butter bottled water and juice boxes for lunches are needed, along with milk, sugar, coffee, powdered creamer and plates and cups.

Contact Toni Troutner via email at [email protected] or by texting 253-951-7765 for more information. Please help share this information with anyone needing shelter tonight.
