Site Likely to Shut Down at Year End

Update on iLoveKent’s Status: It has been about 6 weeks since I announced that iLoveKent might be shutting down at year end.

Since then, I’ve surveyed readers, made content changes, reached out to potential advertisers and asked for reader donations. I have one new marketing partner – the Tacoma Stars – but no new advertisers and no reader donations. I’ve reached out directly and via social media without success. Site traffic on the website is up slightly, but not enough. Social media traffic continues to grow rapidly.

It seems people really want iLoveKent, and it fills a need in the community, but no one has been willing to help support the site. We have 2 months to go, and I’ll keep trying, but it isn’t promising. If I get two or three more advertisers and some reader support, it might be enough to continue, but I am discouraged.

Personally, I really want to keep the site. I’d love to see iLoveKent.net move into our 10th year, but I cannot continue to run at a loss.

Some have asked if I’d keep the social media channels going should I shut down the site, and I will not. There won’t be anywhere else to send readers for more information (e.g., blog posts, calendar, etc.) and much of the fun for me is the writing.

Regardless of our fate, I appreciate your support over the last 9 years. It has been a great run. Thank you.
