Kent motorcyclist killed in morning collision

KENT, Wash., Aug. 22, 2012– Kent Police Department’s Assistant Chief Pat Lowery reported in a press release this morning that a fatal collision occurred at 6:44 a.m. in the 12200 block of SE 223rd Dr. in Panther Lake this morning. Two vehicles were involved, a 1986 Nissan sports car and a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle. According to Lowery, the Nissan crossed the center line of SE 223rd Dr. as he was entering a curve in the roadway. The Suzuki was passing through the curve at the same time, from the opposite direction. The Nissan hit the Suzuki, throwing the motorcyclist from the Suzuki. The motorcyclist, a David Daniel, 56 year old Kent man, died shortly after the accident. The 18 year old Kent man, driving the Nissan, was uninjured. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of the Nissan was speeding.

“Information collected to this point suggests that the passenger car was being driven well in excess of the posted 25 mile per hour speed limit,” Lowery said. Investigators will continue to collect evidence at the scene.
